Traveller’s car taken for CM convoy
Ongole, April 21: Vemala Srinivas of Vinukonda, Palnadu district, alleged that the police took away his car for Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s convoy. Srinivas said that he along with his family, including two men, two women and two children, are on their way to Tirumala for Lord darshan, in an Innova. They were having dinner at a centre in Ongole city at around 11 pm on Wednesday. A constable approached them and demanded to give their car along with the driver for the CM’s convoy for his Ongole tour scheduled on April 22.
Though they said that they were going with family, the police said that they were following higher officials’ orders and took away car and driver.
Srinivas criticized that the officials should take cars from locals, but not from travelers coming from far off places. He lamented how can they get a vehicle in the middle of the night at a new town.
When asked about this, the CI said she was not aware of this incident and assured of sending a vehicle for the family. Usually vehicles of travelers will not be taken for convoy, she stated.
